Object Theatre and the Fantastical - re-animating the world, relating to our shadows - 3-week journey

This 3-week intensive addresses performance makers interested in telling stories using object theatre, object animation, theatre of things and black light theatre. The animation of objects opens a rich liminal space between reality, dream and fantasy. What deeper wisdom, new vision or shadow beings reside in this mysterious in-between space? How can we use the playful animation of objects to introduce audiences to these magical and sometimes haunting worlds, where everything comes to life, and the boundaries between the real and the imagined begin to blur. After an initial introduction into object animation, the intensive will take ghostly tales and stories as a point of departure into the worlds of the Liminal, to explore the fascination with these stories across all ages and times. What part of our inner life do ghosts represent, and what truths do they confront us with? And what ghosts haunt us amid our contemporary living reality?
During the third week, participants will create and devise performative vignettes to share their research with one another and an invited audience at the end of the week.
