About event
The November Discovery of Prešov will be held under the auspices of the Mayor of Prešov, František Oľha, to celebrate the 777th anniversary of the first written mention of Prešov. Together with other period documents, it is stored in the State Archives located in a magnificent building built under Maria Theresa for the needs of the county office. In addition to details from its history, we will decipher the relief in the gable of the building and discuss why there are coats of arms of two counties on the facade.
We will also visit the archive itself, where the director Ľubica Kováčová will guide us and her colleagues will introduce us to the funds the archive manages and show us what gems it keeps.
