NPOs unter Druck

Civil society organizations are currently often becoming political targets - how can we counteract this?

The political climate is becoming harsher. In many countries it can currently be observed how civil society organizations are becoming political targets and propaganda is being made against them. Austrian NPOs are also feeling this. A request from the FPÖ to ministries about financing hundreds of NPOs that are registered on a job platform puts them under general suspicion of using financial resources inappropriately. How can we counteract this? What options do we have to counteract these negative forces?

Eva More-Hollerweger & Katharina Wankat provide insight into the facts and functions of NPOs. Together we will discuss where and how we perceive these developments and what means we have to counteract them.

About Eva More-Hollerweger:
Eva More-Hollerweger is a senior researcher and head of the NPO & Civil Society research focus at the NPO & SE Competence Center and chairwoman of npoAustria. For many years she has been involved in volunteer work and a wide range of topics in the nonprofit sector from a business and economic perspective.
She is active as an advisory board member in the NPO Women's Network.

About Katharina Wankat:
Katharina Wankat has been working as a researcher at the Competence Center for Nonprofit Organizations and Social Entrepreneurship at the WU since May 2023. She is currently working on projects in the area of homelessness and care.
