Night of the Churches 2026 - Courage to be silent

Visit our church again in a different way. As part of this year's Night of the Churches, you will have the opportunity to listen to various instruments, to the silence, or to reflect on the courage hidden in church paintings. Why do we have silence associated with churches? What is it actually used for?
In the Church of the Infant Jesus of Prague, we will explore silence in more depth at this year's Night of Churches. We will invite you to complete silence only several times during the evening for 5 minutes. At the same time, it is not an external peace, but primarily an internal one. External silence, darkness and the space of the church are only means that can help us establish inner silence as well. Silence, which sometimes requires a lot of courage, especially in today's noisy world. In silence, we can listen to ourselves and maybe even hear God.
Besides that, every whole hour the space is filled with the sound of another instrument. We invite you to stop, listen and simply be. At 7:00 p.m. the organ will be played, at 8:00 p.m. the clarinet, at 9:00 p.m. the cello and at 10:00 p.m. the shakuhachi flute.
During the evening you can stop by the large baroque paintings that people have been walking past for several centuries. Each tells the story of other biblical figures and saints from the order of the Discalced Carmelites. Each of them hides a different kind of courage that can inspire even today.
