About event
The ancestors of the American artist Noah Breuer owned a textile factory in Dvór Králové nad Labem. At the beginning of World War II, it was confiscated from them, most of the members of this Jewish family perished in concentration camps. In 2016, Noah Breuer discovered the fabric samples of the family's textile mill, which are part of the depository of the Museum of Applied Arts in Prague. He created an exhibition collection where he combined historical ornaments and contemporary design. Last year, he presented it for the first time in Havlíčk's villa in Břeclav.
Noah Breuer explains how the preparation of the exhibition collection took place and what he found out about the family history. Part of the lecture will be a projection of works of art that are in the current exhibition in Břeclav. The opening speech will be given by journalist Judita Matyášová, who has been dealing with the fate of Jewish families and individuals for a long time, and participates in the organization of accompanying events for the Noah Breuer exhibition.
