About event
The Yalta Hotel was built on the site of a house that was destroyed during an American bomber raid in the spring of 1945. The house was demolished and in its place in 1953, the Yalta Hotel with a classified anti-atomic shelter began to grow. The hotel was created at the request of the President of the Czechoslovak Republic, Antonín Zápotocký, and was built with the architect Antonín Tenzer in the style of the so-called Stalin's Baroque.
The cover was kept completely secret from the public and the hotel staff for many years. After the revolution, the regime of the communist party was weakened and the shelter also acquired a new owner in the form of the civil defense of Hl. m. of Prague, which operated here until 1997. In that year, the cover was handed over to the owner of the Hotel for the first time and thus made accessible to at least the staff.
Participants will go through the individual rooms and find out how things actually worked here.
