About event
Next Vocal Chill Session at the Hat Bar! 🎤 Sunday, December 21st, 2025 – 20:00hrs
Sam Leigh-Brown is a British singer from Manchester, best known as the voice and lyricist of the Frank Popp Ensemble, including the 2003 hit “Hip Teens Don’t Wear Blue Jeans,” and as the former front-woman of N.O.H.A. (Noise of Human Art). But her musical journey began early, with her big-band vocalist mother and saxophonist father.
After travelling across Europe as a street musician in the late ’80s, she settled in Germany, studying jazz vocals in the Netherlands, and building a wide-ranging career spanning jazz, funk, hip-hop, and electronic music.
A versatile and sought-after collaborator, Sam has worked with artists and ensembles such as the United Women’s Orchestra, the HR Big Band, Jazz Echo winner Angelika Niescier, Jazzkantine, and Moonbootica. After stepping back from performing in 2005 to focus on motherhood, she returned in 2012 as a participant on The Voice of Germany, reaching the Battle Rounds on Team Xavier Naidoo.
Now based in Berlin, Sam works in TV and film music, while returning to her first love - jazz - performing intimate concerts that highlight her warm, distinctive voice and seasoned artistry.
