About event

The walk starts in the peaceful part of Vinohrady, where famous personalities such as Jan Kotěra, Emil Kolben, or the sculptor Ladislav Šaloun (and many others) lived. The painter Josef Váchal, who lived nearby in Vršovice, also remembered Ladislav Šaloun. A diverse audience gathered in Šaloun's villa and, among other things, occult sessions were held here.

Part of the route is a visit to the picturesque First Republic colony Svoboda. These are not slum dwellings, but exhibition houses in the rondocubist style by the architect F. A. Libra. During the First Republic, the mayor of Vršovice, Jan Štípek, or the well-known cellist Miloš Sádlo, for example, lived here.

Furthermore, the exceptional constructivist building of the Hus Choir by the architect Pavel Janák is presented.

The end of the walk is the place where the famous Orion factory once stood and where the studio of the company's chief graphic designer Zdenek Rykr was also located. It is he who is the author of the visual form of Kofila and the legendary moureine.

Participants can also look forward to many other architectural attractions that will be revealed during the walk.
