Flamenco and jazz are soulmates (or share a profound brotherhood) rooted in rich ethnic traditions that convey intense emotions. Flamenco was born in Andalusia, a melting pot of eastern and western influences, flamenco mirrors intense feelings, while jazz, with its roots in the American South and African heritage, similarly captures powerful emotions.
Berlin played an important role in the evolution of flamenco-jazz, with a significant moment occurring at the 1967 Berlin Jazz Festival. There, Pedro Iturralde introduced the fusion, bringing a 19-year-old flamenco prodigy named Paco de Lucía, who later became an international flamenco sensation, maintained a lasting connection with jazz until his passing in February 2014.
Our mission is to illuminate the vibrant Berlin flamenco-jazz community, providing a platform for professionals and enthusiasts alike to connect, collaborate, and share their passion for this unique musical fusion.
Join us in celebrating this harmonious blend of two musical worlds, where creativity knows no bounds.
