About event
The Museum of Czech Garnet in Prague will celebrate its 10th anniversary since its opening. On the occasion of this round jubilee, we invite visitors to the museum for FREE.
Under the auspices of the Granát Turnov artistic cooperative, you will discover genuine Czech garnet in the center of historic Prague!
On display is the largest comprehensive collection of historical and contemporary jewelery and objects decorated exclusively with genuine Czech garnet. The exhibition takes you through the history of gem mining in the Czech lands from the earliest times to the beginning of the 20th century. Here you will see, among other things, the oldest surviving grinding wheel from the middle of the 18th century. Part of the exhibition is a video projection on stone grinding and processing technology. You will also learn here how to safely recognize a real Czech garnet from fakes made of stained glass.
Right on the premises of the museum you will find a certified sales gallery of jewelry and souvenirs.
Photography is allowed in the museum and entry is allowed even with pets.
The museum does not have barrier-free access!
