About event
What is hidden behind the curtain of "reality"? And how painful can waking up be? The movie Matrix and its gnostic model points out that knowing the true nature of reality requires a considerable amount of courage. It is not a given that monsters do not lurk behind the walls of sleep.
Dear friends, I cordially invite you to a lecture entitled Morpheus the Liberator - The Matrix, Plato and Dreams.
In the lecture, we will pay attention to the cult film The Matrix. We will take a closer look at his Gnostic background, we will draw his kinship with mystery cults and mystical philosophy. We will pay attention to the motifs of sleep, oblivion, death and awakening.
On the background of Gnostic and Neoplatonic cosmology, we will depict the world as Plato's cave, the illusion of the Matrix, the prison of the mind and the realm of death. We will ask who is actually sleeping and who is supposed to wake up. We will approach Plotinus' philosophical myth about the wandering of the soul in the context of contemporary virtual reality and get to know Morpheus, the god of dreams who frees and awakens.

The lecture will take place on 1 November from 19:00 at the Jemný Svět yoga center (Chopinova 1529, 120 00 Prague 2-Vinohrady).

Lukáš Karas has long been interested in mythology, depth psychology, art and fairy tales. In his lectures, he connects knowledge from these diverse areas to draw a map of inner reality. This knowledge is beneficial when working with dreams. Lukáš Karas started 14 years ago as a volunteer at a center for drug addicts, where he was shaped by Frankl's logotherapy. Later, he became acquainted with the psychology of C. G. Jung, transpersonal psychology and the study of extraordinary states of consciousness.
