MoA Music Festival 2026 celebrates the musical diversity of the Austrian capital and invites the audience to experience the rich cultural texture of Vienna through the eyes and ears of its talented artists.

Efe Turumtay (violin) and Nikola Zarić (accordion)

A project in the spirit of returning to musical roots. Efe Turumtay, who was born in Turkey, and Nikola Zarić, who comes from Serbia - two proven experts in the field of world music - are embarking on a kind of search for clues together. It is the traditional traditions of their respective countries of origin that the violinist and the accordionist take on, embedding them in their compositions in an incredibly varied form and thus filling them with life. The duo invites you to an exuberant and impulsive dance as well as to a sensitive indulgence in the most beautiful melancholy. They are fiery and stormy with virtuosity, but they also have an excellent command of the gentle tone that gives you goosebumps. A truly exciting musical spectacle.

Four years after “AD SPEM”, the two Viennese Efe Turumtay (violin) and Nikola Zarić (accordion) are releasing their second album “VIA”. It breaks new ground in modern chamber music. Difficult enough to describe the virtuosos. Rainer Krispel also stated about the album presentation at Porgy & Bess: “… [A] fantastic concert by Efe Turumtay and Nikola Zaric at Porgy, music that continually transcends what and how is written about it…” We’ll still try a few words:

The two cosmopolitans with Serbian and Turkish roots live in Vienna.
From there they tour through Austria and the world (Argentina, Japan, Bulgaria, Greece, Slovenia, Czech Republic, Scotland, etc.)
For her, the title VIA “is to be understood not only as a spatial and physical path, but as an inner development between us two musicians.” And this path has been worth it in many ways.

This is what the others say about them:
"(...) Both are masters on their instruments, violin and accordion, also play in a quartet, with Czech colleagues, each play in many other ensembles, each cosmopolitan and stylish but all of this still doesn't explain what distinguishes Turumtay Zarić's current CD, namely VIA. Maybe it's the successful one Balance, between extroverted virtuosity and introspective chamber music. Track 1, the title piece “VIA”, a path without end, a clear path in the thicket of everyday life, a bright line in a dark landscape. (…) Golden chamber music in the performance rooms today.” Albert Hosp on Ö1 Spielräume

"The two are musical alchemists who refine everything they touch. Turumtay and Zarić play in a league of their own. This becomes clear when the accordion keys transform into percussion, or the violin brings out the inner mandolin and thus gives the rhythm a new, charming variation, all in passing. Or, suddenly, it leads to a crisp, galloping sound Balkan groove through the melodious variety of the violin into a longing flamenco that touches the heart and at the same time further encourages exuberance.” Their calm, sometimes melancholic compositions reflect a deep European analogue of the blues.

Turumtay Zarić take all the time in the world, and that's why Via has the gift of encouraging time to stand still. And sometimes you can imagine the delicate breath of a Rimski-Korsakoff, a Dino Saluzzi or Hänschen Weiss blowing through this Via.
VIA, a timeless work of art with the power to activate happiness hormones. “
