About event

We have come up with a special two-day event to celebrate the "Fête de la Musique" in Vienna: Folk and Flamenco!

Josie Duncan & Paul Dangl (SCO / A / HUN)

Line-Up:

Josie Duncan – Vocals

Paul Dangl – Fiddle, Vocals

Róbert Császár – Guitar

If the Scottish singer Josie Duncan and the Austrian violinist Paul When Dangl are on stage together, a musical spark is created that goes far beyond the boundaries of traditional folk music. In their project, they weave authentic Scottish folk songs, energetic instrumental pieces and their own compositions into a tapestry of sound that seems both grounded and surprisingly fresh.

With her powerful, expressive voice, Josie Duncan not only brings with her the soul of her homeland - the Isle of Lewis - but also the time-honored "puirt à beul", the rhythmic Gaelic chant that she has internalized from an early age. Paul Dangl, on the other hand, uses his violin to span a range from traditional fiddle to jazzy, improvised flights of fancy - sensitive, experimental and with a feel for unexpected twists.

The trio is completed by the Hungarian guitarist Róbert Császár, whose virtuoso playing bridges the gap between Celtic heritage and modern sound art. The result is a passionate interplay full of energy that makes you sit up and take notice - rough, poetic and full of lively joy of playing.
