💬WE INVITE YOU TO A LECTURE ABOUT ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT SLOVAKIANS
Milan Hodža is one of the most important, but at the same time, often neglected personalities of Slovak and Czechoslovakian history. He was the first Slovak to hold the post of prime minister of the Czechoslovak Republic, a minister several times and one of the most prominent representatives of the European agrarian movement. With his political thinking, however, he went beyond the borders of contemporary Czechoslovakia and became one of the visionaries of Central Europe.
The lecture will focus on Hodža's life and political activities through several thematic blocks. We will focus on his journey from a journalist and politician to a statesman of European stature, his role in building Czechoslovakia, relations with key figures of his time - especially Edvard Beneš - and his work in exile after the collapse of the republic.
We will pay special attention to his vision of the Danube Federation, which represented one of the most daring projects of regional cooperation and integration in the interwar period.
The lecture will offer a view of Milan Hodža not only as a politician and statesman, but also as a thinker whose ideas were in many ways ahead of their time.
