Métavers : vers un nouveau laboratoire du réel

General public scientific conference/ Öffentliche Wissenschaftskonferenz

FR - Context: The metaverse represents a major digital revolution. Driven by the rise of Artificial Intelligence, this technology is in full expansion and is gradually establishing itself in many key sectors: from leisure to culture to high-stakes areas such as industry, health or security. However, the metaverse as well as the issues surrounding it remain relatively poorly known to both the general public and institutional players. Indeed, debates relating to its societal, economic and ethical impacts today remain largely on the fringes.

In order to deepen reflection on the opportunities and challenges linked to the metaverse, the French Institute of Austria is organizing a scientific conference open to all. This meeting, bringing together experts in the field, will present the latest advances in immersive technologies, while exploring their ethical and societal issues.

Format: This scientific conference, in the form of a round table, will offer a complete panorama of the metaverse, allowing the public to understand this notion in the broad sense.

Languages: French and German with translation simultaneous live

Program:

1/ Welcome words from Gertrude Kappel, Dean of the Faculty of Computer Science at TU

2/ Reading of extracts from the novel “Artificial Links” by Nathan Devers
