MEDÚZA V KUCHYNI
A MEDIUM IN THE KITCHEN
Event by: Divadlo bez domova
Location: Pistoriho palác, Štefánikova 834/25, Bratislava - Staré Mesto
About event
We created the theatrical performance MEDÚZA IN THE KITCHEN based on the play Medusa by Uršula Kovalyk. We were loosely inspired by the ancient Greek story of Medusa the Gorgon and looked for parallels with the stories of homeless women you meet on the street every day.
What connects the homeless woman and the mythological Medusa? During artistic work with homeless actresses, we often touched on various pains, but the most poignant of them was the trauma of sexual violence they experienced on the street. Each of them overcame it in a different way, some treated their injuries in a "jellyfish-like" way. The journey from initial pain through anger to finding strength again is long and complex.
Medusa thus became a symbol of homeless women who survived sexual violence and decided to get rid of the feeling of guilt in our theater story.
The performance is intended for audiences aged 16 and over.
Entrance is free.
The performance will be followed by a short discussion in which you will be able to ask our actors and actresses what interests you.
Length of the performance including the discussion: 90 minutes.
