The digital era fundamentally changed the functioning of the media and the dissemination of information. This course will provide participants in deeper understanding of media threats, including misinformation, propaganda and conspiracy theories. We will explore why people believe in conspiracy, what psychological mechanisms play a role, and how propaganders use it. We will learn to work critically with information and effectively educate children and adults in the field of media literacy. We will present the principle of 5 key questions that help verify information and show how to use documentary films as a tool in teaching. The course is determined to all who want to better understand the current media space. Reports and their impact on society. misinformation:
• Effectively discuss with people believers conspiracy theories.
• Develop arguments strategies that help in communication without conflict. • Use documentary films and other media education tools. to media manipulations in personal and professional life. Development of media literacy. Participants will first become acquainted with how traditional media change under the influence of new formats, social networks and algorithms. Emphasis will be placed on the phenomenon of information overload, origin and spread of misinformation and so -called "fake news". The course will also explain why people believe in conspiracy - with regard to the psychology of misinformation, cognitive distortion and emotional manipulation in the media space. Participants will learn to recognize techniques used in modern misinformation campaigns, including work with specific examples of propaganda materials and websites. Emphasis will be placed on practical analysis of specific cases that participants process in groups.
The final part of the course is devoted to education in the field of media literacy. Participants will learn to use documentary films, model situations and scenarios for teaching media literacy of different age groups. It will become acquainted with the principles of critical thinking, ways to explain to children and adolescents of media functioning, and how to lead educational activities aimed at recognizing manipulative techniques in the media.
