Massive Kathak & Omnion

Dance and music performance.

Dancer and actress Anežka Hessová and composer and multi-instrumentalist Tomáš Reindl have been working together since 2000. They originally met in the Damaru dance project (with Ivana Hessová and Elena Kubičková). They played with Damaru at many Czech and foreign festivals. Later they created the concept of Massive Kathak which they are now developing and updating. Omnion's electro-acoustic world music meets the distinctive style of Anežka Hessová, combining the traditional kathak dance technique with acting and musical expression (singing, accordion).

Omnion, Tomáš Reindl's solo project, defines its "OmniBeat" style as a unique combination of live instruments and interactive electronics. Tomáš's music draws inspiration from the traditional music of the East and West and includes genres from electro-acoustic downtempo to ecstatic dance music. She creates music suitable both for listening and for dancing, which she perceives as an archetypal human need.

Anežka Hessová, a professional actress and dancer, studied Kathak dance in India with dance masters. Kathak is a traditional dance of North India, an ancient art that was originally performed in temples as an invocation to the gods. Today, kathak has evolved into a modern form where dancers combine classical techniques with new choreography and tell stories through movement.
