MarZ

Somewhere between folk, pop and jazz lies a place called MarZ - the musical universe of a singer, guitarist and singer Markéta Zdeňková. Her songs range from honest confessions to pranks to shamanic rituals. He writes mainly in Czech and has the ability to create imaginative melodies while preserving the naturalness of his mother tongue. Thanks to this, he finds an ever-growing audience across genres and generations.

The core of MarZ is, alongside Markéta, trombonist and singer Štěpán Janoušek, an exceptional instrumentalist of the current young Prague (not only jazz) scene. His handwriting is distinctive inscribed in song arrangements. It switches between individual functions with lightning speed - except of the mentioned instruments, in this grouping he also rules the percussion and (decent) sound effects.

The first album Na rozcestí, recorded as a duo, was a successful introduction to the MarZ soundscape. In 2018, a five-member band was also formed and in March 2020 they released their eponymous album MarZ on the Tranzistor label. This time they will present their songs in the original duo, which will probably surprise you with their unusual sound variety.
