MARÍNA

The production MARÍNA, based on the poetic composition of Andrej Sládkovič, works with the crowning work of Slovak romanticism and tries to unmask the toxic levels in it. The story about the failed love of Andrej Sládkovič is completely omitted and is replaced by a psychothriller in the basement of a house somewhere in the heart of the Slovak countryside. Sládkovič's verses remain, but they are reinterpreted, stripped of idealism and stripped down to the bone. We find that there is something dark and disturbing about them. Man and woman. The poet and his muse. Love for the nation and love for the woman. Well, isn't it so beautiful? Isn't it so beautiful...traditional?
