About event
Longing and euphoria, melancholy and dynamism - every Maria Basel concert is an exciting, emotional journey in which you slide back and forth between delicate downtempo parts and driving beats. With her new EP “The Longing” (Nov 2025, Listenrecords), the Wuppertal musician is close to the club sound, but at the same time retains the depth and sensitivity of her songwriting. This creates a sound that is both forward and introspective, which allows space for immersive immersion and yet always opens a window into the vastness.
Live, Maria Basel and her band fuse electronic beats, warm synth pads and acoustic instruments into a sound that is as intimate as it is powerful. An invitation to feel your own longing and let it carry you. Maria Basel has been a guest on the popular music format TV Noir several times in recent years, played at the Reeperbahn Festival, Haldern Pop and numerous other festivals in Germany, Spain, the Czech Republic, Italy and Romania. She went on tour with Jupiter Jones, Alin Coen and Patrick Salmen and counts Enno Bunger and Tex among loyal fans. Most recently, her debut album “Bloom” (2023) was released, which was enthusiastically received by critics and audiences. Born in Ukraine as the daughter of a pianist and a cellist, the classically trained musician has been deeply rooted in the music scene of the Bergisches Land and the Ruhr area for many years, where she also composed in the jazz and electro scene, including for the Pina Bausch Ensemble, and received various grants and prizes.
