In 1972, Luchino Visconti made a film in which he portrayed the tragic life of the mentally ill Bavarian King Ludwig II. After the films Twilight of the Gods (1968) and Death in Venice (1970), Ľudovít Bavorský presents the final part of the "German trilogy".
Visconti created with great precision a portrait of the gradual decline of a young and beautiful king who loved art and despised the mundane, but was not a good ruler and the threat of mental illness hovered over his entire life. Throughout his life, he strove to build a universal realm of art, which was supposed to help him find absolute beauty.
We present the film in a restored digitized version in 4K resolution.
