LUCA SALSI'S DEBUT IN THE CZECH REPUBLIC!
Luca Salsi became a sought-after interpreter of Verdi's repertoire in particular (Rigoletto, Nabucco, Macbeth, Count Luna in the Troubadour or Renato in the Masquerade Ball). He performs on the world's most prestigious stages, including La Scala in Milan, the Metropolitan Opera in New York, the Vienna State Opera, the Royal Opera in London and the Salzburg Festival. He opened the La Scala season five times: in 2017 as Gérard (Umberto Giordano: Andrea Chénier), 2019 as Baron Scarpii (Puccini: Tosca), 2020 in a gala concert called A riveder le stelle (the originally planned premiere of Lucia from Lammermoor was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic; the gala concert was broadcast by dozens of TV channels worldwide), 2021 as Verdi Macbeth and 2023 as Rodrigo (Verdi: Don Carlo).
Since his debut at the New York Metropolitan Opera on October 8, 2007 (Sharpless in Puccini's Madama Butterfly), Luca Salsi has been a regular guest on this world stage as well. He made his mark in its history, among other things, with his quick stand-in literally at the last moment for the indisposed Plácid Domingo in the role of Don Carlo in the Saturday performance of Verdi's opera Ernani on 4/4/2015; and this without prior preparation (he last sang this role in Rome in December 2013 under the baton of Riccardo Muti). He then changed into Enrico's costume and performed in the planned performance of Donizetti's opera Lucia di Lammermoor.
At the Prague concert, the singer will be accompanied by his court pianist and accompanist of Milan's La Scala, Nelson Calzi.
