With Skylinekiss, the Swiss instrumental trio dandelion honey reports back with a cinematic, slowly grooving single-somewhere between Alpine Zen surf, dreamy slow pop and chamber music psychedelia. A guitar flashes like sunlight through the cracks old barn wood, the bass tells with patience and the drums breathe in landscapes instead of in clocks. You think of Khruangbin, Tortoise or Yo La Tengo - music for everyone who not only hears, but do it with it. A quiet dance by memory and light.
It was midsummer when dandelion honey moved into the barn. No studio, no city noise, no everyday worries. Only the air, heavy from the dust and flower scent, the milky light between the cracks of the wooden beam and a collection of instruments that sounded like a different time. Where the time pressure had no reception, cherry blossom boogie was created-an album like a set to music Super 8 film: shimmering, yellowed, full of quiet accuracy. Dandelion honey sound as if someone had turned the pace from pop music to give her room to breathe again. Guitar lines sneak through the window like sun rays, the bass is a patient narrator, the drums prefer to think in landscapes than in clocks.
The music of this Swiss instrumental band is a poetic slowdown. Anyone who hears them recognizes fleeting shadows from Khruangbin, whose guitar lines appear skillful. But dandelion honey oppose the something of its own: a kind of Alpine surf, dreamy and yet precise. The term “retro” is aimed. What this music does is more archaeological. She digs something that was buried under layers of volume and time pressure. In some moments, dandelion honey is reminiscent of the cinematic vastness of Tortoise, the silent clarity of Yo La Tengo, the lonely landscapes through which Ry Cooder once sent his slide guitar. And so you stand in front of this music like before an old photo album in an attic: you don't know anyone, but you can feel that it affects you.
and whoever experiences dandelion honey live, finally understands that this music is more than a backdrop. The band modulates the pace with dream -related security, lets go, stall pieces, expand, expand like sun rays in the afternoon. Her concerts are lucky spaces - somewhere between Somnambul transcendence and relaxed dancing. The latter in particular finds more space on the second album than on the debut plate. This is exactly what makes the anticipation of the upcoming European tour so big: Because what is the dandelion honey in the studio becomes a moving picture live. A concert like a journey through time. And a band that has long since been to get their place in the memory of the present.
