Musician Fred Madison begins to receive mysterious VHS cassettes on which he is captured with his wife in their house, and he is troubled by the idea that his wife has a love affair. After being suddenly convicted of her murder, she disappears inexplicably and a young careless mechanic Pete appears in his cell. In this period criticism of the misunderstood cult classic, David Lynch returns to Los Angeles (specifically to the Hollywood Hills house, which will become his home and a studio in real life).
The loop and fragmented story of this night neo-noir is due to its distraction and terribly ambient sound design by a significantly oneiral work, which, however, is trying to mix its abstract plane with the legacy of the most forever Noir's films. The term “feverish dream” can be used for all Lynch's films, but for Highway Lost, this designation is probably the most tight. Moreover, nowhere will you hear such a stunning use of bowie music as in the introduction and conclusion of this film. Because I’m deranged.
