LIVE: Thorpe & Morrison in Dresden

Thorpe & Morrison are bringing their unique style of folk music to Germany for the very first time!

Come and enjoy the sounds of our new album "Grass & Granit" with us at our concert in Dresden.

This is the culmination of over three years of composing, performing and developing as a musician in the British folk scene. The album covers many different genres with elements of traditional English, Scottish and Irish music, original compositions and pieces with influences from funk, American and Scandinavian folk music. The old and the modern are combined in a complex and stimulating mixture. The arrangements are written for violin (Sean Morrison) and guitar (Harry Thorpe), with harmonium and guest vocal appearances enriching the album.

"Grass & Granit" deals with emotions of belonging and longing for home when you set out on new adventures. The title is symbolic of the native lands of Ayrshire and Suffolk, where Sean and Harry spent their childhood before meeting by chance in a pub in the built-up area of ​​central Birmingham. This is reflected in the cover artwork (Hannah Berrisford) in the form of the house carved into the standing stones at Pobull Fhinn (North Uist). North Uist is an island in the Outer Hebrides where Sean's grandfather is from. Both the pastoral melodies of the homeland and the urban influences of the city of Birmingham have strongly influenced the Thorpe & Morrison sound.
