📖&🎥 Kino Úsmev and Literárne residences Košice invite you to the evening of the series Literature and film - year 2024, whose guest will be the writer Iveta Kokyová (CZ).

📚 Iveta Kokyová is a novelist and poet living in Hradec Králové. She worked as a field worker at the Municipal Office in Hradec Králové, as an advisor for the deaf in the organization Tichý svet, and also as an independent editor and presenter on Internet television Romeo TV. She studied social work at the Evangelical Academy in Prague and Roman studies at the Faculty of Arts of Charles University. She is fluent in Olaš and Slovak Romani and has also published her literary texts in these languages. She is the co-author of the Romani prose collection The sun sets already in the morning, in which the authors take a critical female perspective, while opening up the themes of motherhood, eroticism, partnership and emancipation in the patriarchal Romani society. Her short stories Šukar rat / Krásna noc and Imaginárny pes were published in the magazine Romano vođi. She also published texts in the anthologies Samet blues and Čhajorki. Kokyová is also a member of the PEN club and contributes to TVAR magazine.
During her literary residency in Košice, Iveta Kokyová worked on a socio-historical novel that connects family history with the great history of the oppression of Roma and Roma women. At the Literature and Film event, he will present his work from the residency as well as works published in books.
