About event
Ceremonial evaluation of the results of the 33rd year of the all-Slovak Jozef Branecký Literary Competition with the participation of the authors of the contributions and members of the expert jury.
Event venue:
Trenčín self-governing region, 2nd above-ground floor, small banquet room
The competition for high school students and adults "The well secretly talks to the rain" is divided into two age categories. In addition to the free theme with no genre restrictions, this year the organizers are commemorating the 115th anniversary of the birth of the representative of Catholic modernity, the priest and poet Svetoslav Veigl, who also worked in Horňany near Trenčín. He belonged to a strong lineup: Dilong, Silan, Haranta, Ušák Oliva, Strmeň, Zvonický. The loose theme of the competition will be the title of his collection of the same name, Searching for Light, so the organizers want to motivate the participants of the competition to the creative activity of searching for the truth as fearlessly as the literary scholar M. Bátorová evaluates Veigl: unyielding in the face of the blows of fate, rock-solid conviction of one's own truth, the solid background of the home, love of the homeland, the feeling of needing loved ones, family, life turning from torn to peace, to God.
The competition is not intended for members of writers' organizations.
The Jozef Branecký Literary Competition was originally intended only for high school students, currently it is open to all fans of literary creation. It was established 30 years ago on the grounds of the local branch of Matica slovenská in Trenčín. It is covered by the Michal Rešetka Public Library in Trenčín with the Local Branch of Matica slovenská in Trenčín, the Trenčín Self-Governing Region, the Branch of the Association of Slovak Writers of the Trenčín Region and the City of Trenčín. The competition has a poetic name - The well secretly talks to the rain. It is the well from the Trenčín Castle that symbolizes water, without which there is no life and which does not dry up thanks to raindrops in the form of literary talents. The competition is dedicated to the memory of the man of letters, historian, writer and teacher who spent a significant part of his life in Trenčín.
The professional jury has been chaired without a single exception by the poet Jaroslav Rezník for almost three decades, the works were evaluated by other members of the jury - the poet Štefan Cifra, the editor-in-chief of the Literary Weekly and the secretary of the Slovak Writers' Association, Margita Ivaničková, Janka Poláková and Juraj Oravec.
Free admission.
