Legendy v Aeru | Král rybář

🌆 The playful genius of Terry Gilliam in his most creaturely fantasy form. He set the modern fairy tale about the search for the Holy Grail in the streets of Manhattan, unleashed his imaginative visions and let two Hollywood megastars - Jeff Bridges and Robin Williams - shine in the story of two life losers. In Gilliam's eyes, New York is a ghostly forest full of traps and ghosts - after all, it's not just traffic lights, road signs, garbage cans, pedestrians, skyscrapers, or is it? Whether it is a peculiar fairy tale from the Arthurian legends, a heroic novel, a study of the poor sick mind, or human morality from the modern American metropolis, it must have a happy ending... Otherwise, it could not be the brilliant film narrator from the Monty Python club of creative grandmasters.

🌆 A fairy tale grounded in poignant reality, Terry Gilliam's magnificent, Manhattan-set The Fisher King features Jeff Bridges and Robin Williams in two of their most brilliant roles. Bridges plays a former radio shock jock reconstructing his life after a scandal, and Williams a homeless man on a quest for the Holy Grail—which he believes to be hidden somewhere on the Upper East Side. Unknowingly linked by their pasts, the two men help each other on a fanciful journey towards their own humanity. This singular American odyssey features a witty script by Richard LaGravenese, evocative cinematography by Roger Pratt, and superb supporting performances by Amanda Plummer and an Oscar-winning Mercedes Ruehl, all harnessed by Gilliam into a compassionate, funny modern-day myth.
