About event
⌛ Awareness of the finitude and necessity of death is the essential destiny of man. From the Paleolithic to the present, people have been trying to solve this problem. One class of solution is provided by religious systems based on a belief in transcendence, which relativizes or even removes the vexing question of finitude. The second class of approaches is based on the analysis of psychological mechanisms and attitudes that mediate negative emotional reactions and anticipations associated with finitude. Their solution can then reduce or even eliminate the burdensome feeling of finitude. Finally, the third possible solutions are based on the analysis of the formal system within which we perceive mortality. 🧠 Changing the constituents of the mentioned system (e.g. the physical essence of time and the direction of its flow) can also bring a solution with the necessary psychological relief. 🤝
