Join us in welcoming the publication for the exhibition Diary of a Patient by the Artist Jiří Petrbok. 💫
The Jiří Petrbok exhibition focuses on the theme of self-portraits and presents the artist's work from the 1990s to the present day as a continuous record of a changing, constantly questioned "I". defense. In the paintings, the subject appears as a hybrid, a role, a sign or a body exposed to the pressure of the surrounding world. The title of the exhibition does not only refer to the disease, but to the wider experience of a person who is exposed to the influence of institutions, social expectations, symbols and his own body. The "patient" here is the one on whom the world presses, but who at the same time keeps his own record so as not to become a mere case. Petrbok's visual diary connects pain, grotesque, humor and anxiety and across decades shows identity as a process — fragile, ambiguous and never definitively closed.
📖 The baptism will take place in the presence of the artist himself, the curator Otto M. Urban and the godfather of the catalog Krištof Kintera.
