When states cut funding for the arts, it is not about the economy - it is about systemic destruction. The methodical strangulation of funding for culture across Eastern Europe is a deliberate tactic to neutralize its critical edge. They want art to be decorative, quiet and obedient.

But as thinkers like Judith Butler, Mick Wilson and Slavoj Žižek remind us, it is at the edges that radical work begins. If they won't fund our critique, we will build a new democratic imaginary without their approval.
This 3-hour collaborative workshop is not a passive academic seminar; it is a laboratory of cultural resistance.

In it we discuss populist threats to the European art scene and ask ourselves the question: how to transform institutional abandonment into radical solidarity?

Discussion: Mapping threats. Where does art sit in relation to the political sphere?

Conceptualization: What type of subversive intervention suits you best: radical manifesto, institutional protest or guerilla exhibition plan?

Prefiguration: What is the culture of tomorrow?
They are cutting the budget.
They can't buy our votes.

Join the workshop and turn your imagination into a creative one. action!

When states slash arts funding, it's not economics — it's a systemic destruction. The methodical defunding of culture across Eastern Europe is a deliberate tactic to neutralize its critical edge. They want art to be decorative, silent, and compliant.

But as thinkers like Judith Butler, Mick Wilson and Slavoj Žižek remind us, the margins are exactly where radical work begins. If they won't fund our critique, we'll build a new democratic imaginary without their permission.
