👉 The Forellenquintet is one of the most popular chamber music works ever. Its lyrical richness of color, the dialogue between the five instruments and the varied movement on Schubert's song “Die Forelle” combine joy of life, melancholy and heartfelt poetry like no other work.
The poem about the deceived, captured trout was written by the prince critic Christian Friedrich Daniel Schubart during his ten-year imprisonment in a fortress, into which he was ambushed by his sovereign in 1777. The verses were set to music by Franz Schubert in 1816/17, after the beginning of the Restoration policy in Europe. In 1819 the composer incorporated the theme of the song into the set of variations of his Op. 114. In March 1820, when Metternich's secret police controlled Vienna, Schubert himself was arrested with friends.
🌟 We look forward to starting the New Year with you, your family and friends in such a musical way in the Mendelssohn-Remise.
