About event
🎭 LILY OF LILY
A secret that no one knew — and yet everyone knew about it
Young Jewish poet Vali Reiszová and Franciscan monk, Slovak poet, Rudolf Dilong. Two souls united by poetry, passion and the courage to live for love. They had to hide their joint artistic work, their love relationship and later their family life all the time.
Their story takes place in the shadow of war and social prejudices. Despite all the obstacles, Vali published two collections of poems during the wartime Slovak state, gave birth to Dilong's daughter and survived the fury of the Holocaust. Dilong's social status saved her from deportation, but it was because of him that Dilong had to emigrate after the war.
In the background of their story, we follow the history of the 20th century and its influence on human destinies, which were marked by emigration and persecution by state power. They represent in an essential form a kind of double morality that was socially accepted at the time.
Theatrical adaptation of the biographical novel by Denisa Fulmeková, their granddaughter, reveals the fate of a woman who, even in the midst of darkness, found the strength to write, love and survive.
Come and touch a story that is tender, painful and extremely true.
A story that we as a society have still not been able to fully acknowledge.
