We invite you to the third in the series of Book Cafes, again in the informal and friendly atmosphere of the Týnská literary cafe.
This time our guest will be the restorer Jarmila Franková from Atelier Frank, who will introduce us to the world of caring for historical books and paper monuments. What does the job of a restorer look like? What all needs to be done to preserve a damaged book for future generations? What are the most common interventions in the restoration of historical books and how does a restorer decide how to approach a particular volume?
During the meeting, Jarmila Franková will present selected restoration procedures and examples of her work - from original prints to historical leather wallpapers. This gives us a glimpse into a field that combines craftsmanship, knowledge of historical materials and a sensitive approach to cultural heritage.
Come sit, talk and discover what all is hidden behind the rescue of historical books. ☕
