About event
TO FREEDOM, TO THE SUN
Ludwig van Beethoven: all overtures in the open air
A musical freedom speech
Pentecost 2026
Saturday, May 23rd | Sunday May 24th | Monday May 25th
Orpheus Ensemble Berlin | Speaker
Stefan Meinecke - Conductor
A concert evening with all of Beethoven's overtures. An evening full of energy. A musical speech on freedom!
Hardly any composer defended the idea of freedom as passionately and explained it musically as Ludwig van Beethoven. For him, freedom was not a political slogan, but an inner mission - a state of being human. His overtures are not mere introductions, but rather condensations of human fates, struggles and hopes. They are all dramas that deal with existential human issues.
Concert starts at 7 p.m. | Admission, preliminary program, catering 6 p.m.
