KINO: Sculpting This Earth

The film documents the creation of a total of 25 works by the well-known landart artist Strijdom van der Merw. For a year, the camera follows Strijdom as he wanders through the South African interior, looking for inspiration and then getting to work. Beautiful scenery of green valleys, lagoon shores or arid semi-deserts spread out on the canvas, which Strijdom enriches with his ephemeral works. The artist draws attention to details that people normally don't even notice, and places natural motifs in unusual contexts. Aswegen / South Africa / 2023 / 95 min. / language English
