About event

Peter Jordan says of himself that there isn't a day when he doesn't think about war and the Shoah. The actor, born in 1967, still struggles to find the right relationship with German culture. In his younger years, like many of his generation, everything German was viewed as suspicious and musty. But with the birth of his child, the task arose to name and convey what was one's own.

'No Beautiful Country' is an autobiographical, narrative essay that is very topical, because the question of what Germany is and can be is being asked with increasing sharpness within right-wing extremists and also internationally. One thing is clear: we can no longer duck. Peter Jordan dares to give an answer that is as personal as it is fearless.

Peter Jordan, born in Dortmund in 1967, studied acting at the University of Music and Theater in Hamburg from 1991 to 1994 after studying human medicine. Engagements followed at the Theater Rostock and from 1995 to 2000 at the Schauspielhaus Bochum. From 2000 to 2009 Peter Jordan was in the ensemble of the Thalia Theater, Hamburg. Peter Jordan appears in numerous film and television productions, including being a crime scene detective in Hamburg from 2008 to 2011. In 2003, Peter Jordan was awarded the Academy of Arts sponsorship prize as part of the Berlin Art Prize. Peter Jordan has been living and working as a freelance actor, director and playwright in Berlin since 2009.
