On October 5, 2017, an article was published in the New York Times that shook Hollywood to its foundations. The text exposed one of the most important film producers, Harvey Weinstein (among other things, the owner of six Oscars in the most prestigious category "Best Film") as a sexual predator. For decades, the producer abused his position of power when he "sold" his film career for the provision of sexual services. He got away with it for years, either silencing his victims with money or professionally liquidating them. There was no one willing to go into open conflict with him. Two journalists from the New York Times, Jodi Kantor (Zoe Kazan) and Megan Twohey (Carey Mulligan), entered into an unequal fight, who knew that the alpha and omega of their reportage would be to find a woman who was not afraid to speak up. The drama When She Spoke is very close to the award-winning classics All the President's Men and Spotlight with an honest and detailed, almost detective-like reconstruction of the work of two female journalists who embarked on a fight against an unequal opponent in which, at first glance, they had not the slightest chance of success. In an effort to find Weinstein's victim who will stop being afraid, they gradually realize that the material they are preparing can have a major impact not only on the alleged rapist and his victims, but also on the entire society and its perception of the term "sexual violence".
