Last fall, Kat Frankie surprised, amazed, moved to tears and thrilled the audience with her project B O D I E S. The show carried the audience to a standing ovation with its a capella ensemble. Reason enough to further develop B O D I E S and present it live again.
While Frankie had been incorporating pure vocal parts into her show for a long time, the idea of performing a complete concert with only female voices grew in her mind. She wrote the songs for the “B O D I E S” EP, which was released in 2020. This was followed by the first appearance in the sold-out RBB Sendesaal in Berlin and four more that made it clear to her that she was working on something big. And the sound is actually very special: without instruments on stage, the eight-piece ensemble delivers an astonishing range of human emotions. Sometimes incredibly powerful, sometimes tender and thoughtful, Frankie's compositions range from passionate to playful. And then there is the sheer physical power of eight women in harmony. But let's let Kat Frankie do the talking herself to announce the tour next January: “There are no instruments, which is incredibly liberating for some reason. When there are eight people on stage - eight bodies, eight voices and nothing else - the usual structures and expectations don't seem to apply. To be honest, I don't think there is anything comparable. We had a really wild and overwhelming response to the shows last year, but we were just getting started. I'm really looking forward to pushing the boundaries of what a vocal ensemble can do and taking things further. The resonance that eight voices can create together is incomparable to anything else. B O D I E S is a very special show and I can hardly wait for 2025.”
