About event
Without the revolutionary invention of the electric guitar, history would have been different: the '68 Jimy Hendrix, the hippies Janis Joplin and Woodstock, the squatters Ton Steine Scherben, the peace movement Bots & BAP, the women's movement Ina Deter, the punkers Patti Smith. It is the soundtrack and its resonances in society that make a movement successful. The climate movement today finds itself without its own sound and is in danger of losing; the earth is constantly getting hotter. A catastrophe that Jürgen Becker analyzes perfectly with “Deine Disco”.
A cabaret program like no other: politics, records, protests and punchlines are mixed live on stage as a rousing radio show, you satirically delve deep into the sound files of the moving youth and in the end even save the future: Follow the Science. But don't forget the emotions! It was not for nothing that Joseph Beuys answered the question of whether one could change the world with art: “Only with art!”
Jürgen Becker, born in Cologne in 1959, began his stage career in the 1980s. He quickly became known for his sharp humor and socially critical programs. A milestone in his career was co-founding the "Stunksession" in 1984, an alternative carnival event in Cologne. Since 1992 he has hosted the cabaret show "Mitternachtsspitzen" on WDR, which has established itself as one of the most long-lasting and successful satirical formats on German television. Becker is also the author of several books in which he humorously and critically examines social phenomena. Jürgen Becker has received several awards for his work, including the German Cabaret Prize and the Prix Pantheon. He lives and works in Cologne and remains a defining figure in the German cabaret scene.
