Jenny Hval: I Want to Be a Machine

Physicality, sexuality, patriarchy and personal limits - Norwegian musician and writer Jenny Hval has performed on albums such as Blood Bitch or last year's Classic Objects she wasn't afraid to explore things in depth, whether it was social, personal topics, or their intersection. In catchy choruses and melodies, she managed not to lose the message or herself.

With the new project I want to be a machine, Hval turns to exploring the boundaries of what she can convey as an artist to his audience, at a time when music is losing its value, whether physical or philosophical. The interdisciplinary performance, in which Hval and three other male and female musicians participate, brings together new compositions that appear on stage together with the act of writing an essay thematizing the position of the artist on the stage. In her work, Jenny Hval has been connecting various forms of expression for a long time, from musical to literary to visual. I want to be a machine is the first release since 2022's latest award-winning album Hval, and the live show will be presented on a handful of European stages.
