About event
The Belarusian Institute in Prague invites you to the Božská lahvice bookstore on Friday, December 13, to the presentation of the book "Belarusians in the Polish Army (1919 - 1947)." Professor of the University of Warsaw, Dr. Habilitation Jury Hrybowski.
This book tells about the participation of Belarusians in the regular formations of the Polish Army during the Polish-Soviet War, the interwar period, during the Second World War and after its end. The work is the result of many years of work in the archives of Poland, Belarus, Great Britain, Germany, Lithuania, Canada and Russia. The author sheds light on one of the most tragic and difficult periods in the history of Belarusians and Poles, shows the true fighting brotherhood cemented by the blood of both peoples. The historian focused on such aspects as the attitude of Polish citizens of Belarusian nationality to the performance of military duty, the policy of the Polish authorities towards Belarusian soldiers, their participation in military operations on the territory of Poland, Belarus, Italy, France, Holland, Belgium, Germany, Great Britain, Norway , North Africa, on the Atlantic Ocean. It also investigates the post-war fate of these people, including the Soviet repressions against them. The book is dedicated to tens of thousands of Belarusians who fought sacrificially in Polish uniforms, but were forgotten in their homeland for a long time.
