Indiana Jones a poslední křížová výprava

The third part of the Indiana Jones tetralogy deals with Christian mysticism and mythology. In addition, the film offers a glimpse into the hero's personal history and inner self, as he must establish a relationship with his estranged father during his search for the Holy Grail. The imaginary last crusade thereby acquires two symbolic levels: the return of the lost son to the real father, the blood and the spiritual one. The depiction of Indiana Jones as the James Bond of archeology is enhanced and ironized here by the casting of Sean Connery, the first representative of Agent 007, in the role of Jones Sr. He embodies the classic model of the passionate and somewhat impractical old professor, thus creating a contrast to his adventurous son. Setting the story before the beginning of the Second World War frames the story as an age-old struggle between good and evil, and the defeat of the Germans in this battle foreshadows the end of the war itself, leaving the film with a light tone.
