About event
Dear friends,
On August 29, we annually commemorate the Day of Remembrance of Defenders of Ukraine, who died in the fight for the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of their country. On this occasion, we in Bratislava join the all-Ukrainian initiative and invite you to the commemorative and charitable run "I RUN FOR UKRAINE: Bežim za hrdinov".
This run is primarily of a commemorative and symbolic nature. Each participant can dedicate their run to a specific fallen hero or heroine - you can write their name directly on your starting number, which allows us to honor their memory together and pass on their stories.
🗓️ Date: August 29, 2026 (Saturday)
⏰ Time: 10:05 start of runs (09:00 registration and issuing of numbers begins, 10:00 minute of silence and intercession)
📍 Place: Janka Kráľ Park, Bratislava (we meet in the central part, near the statue)
🏃🏻 Distances:
350 m (also suitable for pedestrians and families with children)
3.5 km (symbolic reminder of 35 years of independence)
Participating the fee is a voluntary charitable contribution. In the system, you can choose the support category at your discretion. All funds raised will be directly used to help the soldiers defending Ukraine through the HURKIT (Гуркіт) fund, this time primarily for the purchase of life-saving radio electronic warfare (REB) systems and equipment for frontline defenders.
We would like to ask you very kindly not to carry valuables. Unfortunately, we do not have a secure storage area that is under constant control.
The Ukrainian volunteer organization Oberih Bratislava, which has been helping Ukrainian defenders for a long time, will also be part of the event. At their post, you will be able to try knitting camouflage nets and directly contribute to helping the soldiers on the front. Even a small piece of work can become part of a network that will protect the lives of Ukrainian defenders.
Let's together preserve the memory of the heroes of Ukraine and help those who are fighting today so that they do not become just names on memorial lists. Let our run be a symbol of hope and unity! 🇺🇦🤝🇸🇰
We look forward to seeing you!
Sincerely,
Run and help initiative, Peace of Ukraine, Ukrainian Youth Council in Slovakia and the Embassy of Ukraine in Slovakia
