I don’t dream of labour: blok krátkych filmov

What was work like during the industrial revolution? How did production automation develop? Imagine the night shift of a person working for a delivery service who has to earn the rent until the next morning. Or the age, nationality and gender diverse accounts of people working on construction sites in the United Kingdom. How does a hamster live and work in Hamsterland, in a perfect state with a perfect economy? And last but not least, the feverish effort to win despite the absurdity of the assigned tasks caused by the competitive environment.

Kina inak A4's free series entitled I don't dream of labor brings together works that deal with how work interferes in our lives, how it affects our thinking, habits, perception of our own value and identity (through work assignment); how the most important work is invisible, how some types of wage labor force us to be competitive and prioritize efficiency and effectiveness over empathy. About exploitation and alienation, tired bodies, exhaustion, burnout and bullshit jobs, about unpaid work, precarization. "Work is related to dignity and can lend us dignity, or, on the contrary, rob us of it. Work may or may not be a career, and it may or may not seem meaningful to people," writes sociologist Kateřina Nedbálková in the introduction to her book Pracovat.
