About event
Mojše Band is a unique Slovak ensemble that focuses on the interpretation of the Jewish musical heritage from the territory of the former Hungary. Their work is not just a historical reconstruction, but a lively and progressive combination of klezmer with elements of jazz, chanson and rock.
Under the leadership of founder and singer Michal Paľek, the band brings an incredible amount of authentic emotion, wit and virtuosity to the stage. In addition to singing, they also use cymbals, contrabass and wind instruments in their instrumentation, creating a rich and spontaneous sound.
The group is a regular guest at European festivals, where it dispels the myth that traditional Jewish music belongs only in a museum. Their performances are famous for their interaction with the audience and the ability to make the listeners laugh and cry in the course of one song.
The group has been active for a long time in a stable line-up of three multi-genre musicians, whose virtuosity forms the basis of their "neo-klezmer" style:
· Michal Paľko – band founder and leader, vocals, dulcimer, wind instruments (shalmaj, flutes).
· František Kubiš – accordion, vocals.
· Lukáš Lacko – bagpipes, pipes, percussion instruments.
