About event
How do I enable people to independently advocate for their interests? How do I build a stable and sustainable network? How do I tackle problems in my social space and implement solutions?
Do you work for an association, an initiative, a religious community, a non-profit institution or a socially oriented company? Do you work as a neighborhood manager, social worker, community representative, representative for network or district work? Do you want to address new target groups, put participation in your club or community on a sustainable basis and expand your network? Then the basic seminar on community organizing could be of interest to you...
Community organizing has a long history internationally. Today, NGOs, movements, political parties, churches and, increasingly, companies around the world are using the knowledge of how to systematically organize joint and effective action for a more just, sustainable and inclusive world on the basis of trusting relationships. Developed in the USA in the 1930s, community organizing has been successfully implemented in Germany since the 1990s.
Community organizing (CO) is about using your own relationship and creative power to develop solutions to problems in a social space/pastoral area/district/neighborhood/city and to negotiate their implementation. The aim is to make the interests of local people heard and to enable them to advocate for their own concerns.
The seminar explains the basics of community organizing and teaches the associated methods, such as individual and small group discussions, power analysis, actions and storytelling. The focus here is on both the basic understanding of community organizing and its concrete implementation in the local social space.
