About event
Gray Scale presents
Public Memory (Felte Records)
As we know, Robert Toher doesn't like musical clichés and so he dusted off the sound of Public Memory for the fourth album “Elegiac Beat” thoroughly again. Light continually breaks through the scenery and influences such as Dub and Krautrock can be clearly heard and bring to mind Massive Attack, Portishead or Thom Yorke's solo albums
For three albums, Robert Toher has been letting us immerse ourselves in his electronic soundscapes, which he created with KORG -Synths, but also with atmospheric field recordings. He recorded his debut “Wuthering Drum” in his bedroom in Los Angeles in 2016. Before that, until 2013, he was part of the duo ERAAS together with Austin Stawiarz, which rose again from the ashes of the post-rockers Apse. Public Memory is the third musical rebirth of the musician, who now lives and works in Brooklyn. Musically, Public Memory focuses on darkwave but also allows for herbaceous elements and avoids musical clichés. After he went a bit overboard with the production of his second album “Demolition” and assembled up to 100 tracks on the computer, he went much more minimally for his last album “Ripped Apparition”. With “Elegiac Beat” Public Memory is now opening new musical doors.
