Ausstellungsführung "Geschichte machen"

Guided tour of Qwien's first major exhibition "Making History. A queer millennium in 27 incredible objects."

CURATOR TOUR with Andreas Brunner on December 13th, 2026!

For centuries, testimonies of queer love have been marginalized, hidden, secreted and destroyed. Only the documents of the persecution were largely preserved. A historical exhibition that tells about the life and love, everyday life and identity of queer people would largely be a show without objects.

Thanks to expressly unreliable research, Qwien has now succeeded in bringing together the greatest treasures from Austria's queer past in an exhibition that tells of fulfilling queer lives from the Middle Ages to the post-war period. Anyone who is pushed out of history has to make it themselves.

The exhibition makes queer history(s) visible and creates one Access to experiences that would otherwise have left no visible trace. Through reproduction, the invisible is made visible, the forgotten is remembered, the repressed is named.

Sounds exciting? Then join us on this exciting tour of the exhibition "Making History" in the new Qwien - Association for Queer Culture and History!

Qwien is Austria's first queer cultural center. We are an extensive archive, library, research center and recently also an exhibition and event location for changing exhibitions, lectures and events.

We are here to discover, collect, communicate and preserve the past and present of queer life in Austria. Everyone is welcome - you don't need any prior knowledge to take part in this tour.
